Training for Hunting

Advanced Training for Hunting and Hunt Test Dogs

Ross began training hunting dogs in 1988. He is an avid hunter and feels that a good retriever is invaluable when hunting. He can provide training for your dog that is tailored to your specific needs from basic retrieving to advanced retriever handling.

Ross started with field trials and then when hunt tests were introduced in Ontario he crossed over. He has been running and judging retrievers in Ontario and Quebec in the hunt test game for almost 20 years. He is pleased to have been selected as one of the three judges from across Canada to judge the National Master Hunt Test to be held in Quebec City in 2013. Ross can provide training for your dog for participation in hunt tests.

Early Training for Hunting Dogs

Laurel has developed a training program for puppies starting at the age of 8 weeks to the age of 5 - 6 months. The biggest window of opportunity for dogs to learn is between 6 and 16 weeks.

This program has proven very valuable in establishing the ground work for a good working retriever. It consists of a weekly one hour session with Laurel and training drills for each meal for homework throughout the week.

This program is available at no charge to clients who purchase puppies from Culandubh. It is also available to other clients at an affordable rate. Please contact Laurel for more information or to set up an appointment.
